Doug and I are heading up to Willits this weekend to learn a thing or two from George O’Hanlon of Natural Pigments LLC; a California paint materials manufacturer who specializes in rare and hard-to-find artist materials.
His Painting Best Practices: A Technical Workshop teaches skills that are “not taught in art school and universities—a thorough understanding of artists’ materials and tools, what they are designed to do, when to chose them and how to provide considerable longevity to your finished work.” The workshop will be covering supports, grounds, paints, mediums, and varnishes… basically from the beginning to the finish of a painting.
I’m so excited to be filling in the holes in my expertise, and to bring it back home for my students in the Bay Area. AND, I get to be a student again! Oh, the joy!!! I get to sit back and absorb…
