Juggling Hats and Making Choices

We’ve been really busy since the winter quarter kicked in; even with Doug doing all of my model booking and a large amount of the Lafayette Studio managing, two months have slipped by since my last post. I’m not going to feel bad about it though… time in my studio and time in the classroom are the most important. (I am also resisting the incredible urge to work on my garden, which has been non-existent since our painting trip to Italy in 2012).

Since January 8, besides the 10 week winter classes,  we have had the Hands and Feet workshop at Lafayette Studio,

and the Portrait Drawing Intensive at Artu4ia in Martinez, both successful and well attended.

At Civic Arts Education in Walnut Creek, along with my other classes I have been teaching ‘Further Adventures in Color and Light”, part three of my color class series.

Part two of the series is “Painting the Still Life with Color and Light”; this was held last fall at Civic Arts, and I will teach it again this summer at Lafayette Studio

In “Painting the Still Life Like the Old Masters” I have been demonstrating in acrylic, still working out the problems:

I am enjoying the gestural underpainting and grisaille, but I am still missing the rich dimensionality I get with oil:

I am also working on a larger figure painting, which I will write about more later…

So, when have I had time to post?
