I am beginning a 3 week break on Monday, at least a break from teaching! Getting bids and prepping my house to get it repainted (no, I am not painting it myself). By mid September I hope to have my lovely but disheveled bungalow tricked out in fresh color! Not only that, I am taking advantage of the Contra Costa Water District’s lose your lawn program, so I am redoing my front yard to be waterwise in an english garden sort of way! By next summer there will be blooms everywhere… lavender and rosemary, all sorts of sage and drought resistant flowers, even a climbing rose!
A few happenings of note:
I have recently added artwork on both the UGallery site and my Etsy page, both accessible from my website. This piece is on Etsy, click the name to reach the site:
I am also participating in Arts Benicia’s annual Art Auction and Gala on September 19. I am donating my latest mixed media “Wildfire”, a gestural figurative piece of chalk pastel over acrylic on printmaking paper:
This was inspired by the Contra Loma fire in particular (near my home and favorite place to walk), but also the particularly aggressive season of fire we are experiencing through California and the northwest.
Even though I am off for a few weeks, classes will be starting in mid September! Check my class listings at Lafayette Studio for information on the exciting figure drawing class Chasing Nicolaides
See you in the fall!
